TYMLEZ Group Limited (“TYMLEZ”) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Aerospace Malaysia Innovation Centre (AMIC) to collaborate on the guarantee of origin for sustainable aviation fuel.

AMIC is an industry-led research and technology development centre for Malaysia’s aerospace industry — with lead industrial partners including Airbus, Rolls Royce, and Composite Technology Research Malaysia. AMIC brings together the world’s leading solutions providers to deliver new and innovative solutions to the aviation industry.

Working closely with the Malaysian Government and industry, AMIC has positioned itself as the forerunner in sustainable aviation fuels in South-East Asia, covering all areas of the value chain from sustainable feedstock through to fuel production and the renewable energy sources required to power the process.

Sustainable aviation fuel, or SAF, is set to be the key driver in the decarbonisation of the aviation sector — by transforming sustainable feedstocks into fuel to power aircraft across the globe. Potentially, it could reduce overall carbon emissions by 80% or more. The aviation industry currently contributes 2–3% of all man-made global greenhouse emissions, a figure which is expected to increase as air travel continues to grow.

SAF can be created from a range of feedstocks including residential waste materials, sustainable plant oils, and used cooking oils, therefore having the dual effect of reducing the carbon emissions from aviation and reducing waste sent to landfills.

Given the importance of SAF in powering the decarbonisation of the aviation industry, it is important for airlines to be provided with a guarantee of the true carbon value of their SAF from seed-to-tank. TYMLEZ and AMIC are collaborating to assess opportunities for guaranteeing the origin of sustainable aviation fuel across the full value chain, providing customers with assurance over the carbon footprint of their fuels.

TYMLEZ’s Guarantee of Origin solution enables SAF producers to accurately report on the carbon emissions of their product from across the full value chain by integrating directly with IoT devices and sensors from across plants and vehicles, which enables trust and helps eliminate the risk of greenwashing.

In partnership with The HBAR Foundation, TYMLEZ has built its solution upon the Hedera network, a carbon-negative distributed ledger technology platform that thanks to its scalability and security, allows TYMLEZ deploy solutions a cross-complex industrial processes such as the production facilities for sustainable aviation fuels.

TYMLEZ Chief Executive Officer, Maciek Kiernikowski, said, “Our project with AMIC signifies the start of what is anticipated to be a long-term partnership driving decarbonisation of the aviation industry. Airlines across the world are looking for ways to decarbonise their fleets and sustainable aviation fuels are well-positioned to meet this demand. TYMLEZ’s solution for Guarantee of Origin will assist SAF producers in providing their customers with fully verifiable digital carbon emissions certificates for each tonne of SAF they produce — adding trust for airlines in their journey towards net zero futures.”

Dr. Liew Kan Ern, Chief Executive Officer of AMIC said,“AMIC is pioneering the way for the sustainable aviation movement in Malaysia and beyond, with our passion to drive industrial-led aerospace research and development in Malaysia. We are excited by the opportunity to work with TYMLEZ, an innovative company with a unique solution leveraging on distributed ledger technology, to provide assurance and transparency in the source to production and distribution process of sustainable aviation fuels. This will help generate trust in the market by giving customers transparency on the carbon-reduction content of the fuel they are buying, reinforcing the contribution that AMIC is making into the SAF and corresponding industries”.

Building on TYMLEZ’s relationship with Safetytech Accelerator and Lloyd’s Register in respect of providing assurance of green fuels in the maritime industry, the AMIC relationship continues to demonstrate TYMLEZ’s role in the decarbonisation of global transportation as it expands its presence into the aviation industry. As the push to decarbonise these sectors continues, TYMLEZ’s technology is strongly positioned to be used to eliminate greenwashing and provide full transparency and auditability into sustainable fuel supply chains.

TYMLEZ is excited for its future with AMIC as it looks to a long and prosperous relationship.
