Lokkaroom Launches on Hedera to Enhance Fan Participation in Sports

Lokkaroom, the mobile-first fan experience platform for clubs and athletes of all sports to create their own digital economies by enhancing the fan experience, is now live on the Hedera network, launching with two sporting organizations and three key NFT collections.

Developed by TMA Sport, Lokkaroom enables the delivery of meaningful and rewarding experiences that maximize fan participation through innovative engagement opportunities. Partners first acquire their own Lokkaroom and then choose from a variety of modular features to build products and activities for their supporters. Leveraging the Hedera Token Service (HTS), this experience offering so far includes NFT collectibles, fan voting, and rewards.

Alongside this, Lokkaroom has actualized a long-term, sustainable infrastructure for tokens on its platform. Enabled by the power of the HTS, all tokens on Lokkaroom are linked to real-world currencies, as opposed to cryptocurrencies. This provides an accessible and stable user experience (UX) to all those that participate on the platform.

To further enable this UX and reduce friction for Web2 users as they’re onboarded into Web3, users are not required to set up their own Hedera wallet. Rather, all this is automated and managed directly on Lokkaroom.

Football scouting app Skouted, which was co-founded by the former professional football player Febian Brandy, is one of the first sports organizations to launch its own Lokkaroom. In their inaugural collection Brandy, and fellow footballer, Oliver Fannon, showcase a number of collectible player cards, introducing NFT creation to their audience for participation in future collections.

Earlier this year, the Manchester Giants also participated in a collectibles film and photo shoot with Lokkaroom, making them the UK’s first professional basketball players to launch digital collectibles.

“Fans are seeking new ways to interact and engage with their chosen sports, clubs, and athletes. Clubs and athletes recognize this and want to reward the support of their fans and strengthen the community in a safe and secure environment.” Said Lokkaroom and TMA Sports CEO Dave Brannan. “That’s why it was important to partner with an organization that offers vision, stability, and governance in a rapidly emerging market. The carbon-negative Hedera network is the perfect fit.”

“We are delighted to support Lokkaroom’s vision in sports tokenization,” said Alex Russman, VP of the Metaverse Fund for The HBAR Foundation. “The platform truly enables sporting professionals to create their own economies, in which they control their own assets and identities whilst strengthening relationships with their fans.”

Demand for the Lokkaroom platform is strong, with a number of agreements in advanced stages and the company in talks with prospects from grassroots to leading professional clubs to governing bodies across multiple sports. The company is also in advanced negotiations with brands on sponsorship and advertising opportunities on the platform.
